Final Project

Artist's Statement/A Little Background History/Project Goal
My whole goal with this project is to tell my story of how I met my "real" best friend, Leah and to help others better understand me. I feel as if I have never been understood by anyone my whole life. Because I am different (not that everyone is the same) people have a difficult time relating to me, especially girls. Growing up I had friends who were girls but they all treated me unfair because I was "weird." I have never really had a good friend for a long period of time. No one would take the time to understand me, get to know me, my interests, why I am the way I am. They found it strange and would drop me like a boring video game, book, or any other inanimate object. I have given up over the years with keeping a friend. Starting to except me for who I am (or at least trying) and trying to tell myself that friends just come and go. Either that or people are mean and suck. Leah is one of the most important people in my life and for people to better understand me I felt it was necessary to tell a story of a big turning point in my life. It's the story about meeting Leah, finding happiness, growing up, and learning. It was an event that helped me realize that there is nothing wrong with being "weird" and myself.
